Travel Destinations in Europe is an independent travel site about Europe: its cities, islands, mountains, food and the practical details that make a trip work. We write for people planning their own trips, whether that is a weekend city break or a month on the road.
What we cover
Our guides cover destinations across Europe, from well-known places such as Vienna, the Amalfi Coast and Dubrovnik to quieter corners like Romania’s Saxon towns, Albania’s islands and Slovenia’s Škocjan Caves. We focus on where to go, when to go, how to get there and what is genuinely worth your time.
How we write and check our guides
- We check facts against official sources. Opening hours, ticket prices, rules and closures come from the official websites of museums, parks, transport operators and tourist boards wherever possible. Our updated guides state the year their prices refer to.
- We update older articles. Travel information changes quickly. When we revise a guide, we check it again from top to bottom and show the date it was updated.
- We are careful with sensitive topics. Where borders, conflicts or travel advisories are involved, we stick to neutral, verifiable facts and point readers to official travel advice.
- We correct mistakes. If you spot an error or something that has changed, please tell us. We fix it as soon as we can verify it.
Our photos
We only use photos we have the right to use: our own pictures, images in the public domain, or photos published under open licences such as Creative Commons, mostly from Wikimedia Commons. Every photographer is credited at the end of the article with the licence and a link to the original. If you believe a photo on this site is credited incorrectly, please contact us and we will review it straight away.
Advertising and independence
The site is funded by advertising. Advertisers have no say in what we write or which places we recommend. If we ever publish sponsored content or use affiliate links, we will label them clearly.
